Case Studies

Collection of embedded food systems case studies from Europe as educational tools

This output introduces the use of Case Studies as one of the effective teaching techniques, and brings together cases of embedded food systems from different countries in Europe, collected, described and summarized in a manual to be used as a teaching tool. This includes case studies elaborated by students, supervised by the GOODFOOD lecturers, during the GOODFOOD e-learning and Intensive Study Programmes.

The guidelines on how to perform embedded food systems analysis were created by the GOODFOOD consortium, and tested during the project educational activities. Students enrolled to the GOODFOOD educational activities were introduced to the task, and were working on the selected embedded food systems case studies from their home regions, guided by the lecturers. The developed case study analyses were presented by the students during the Intensive Study Programmes, and feedback of the lecturers was collected and provided to students. The output leader, with the local input from each of the partners, revised selected, best case study reports and presentations and built them into a manual, to be further disseminated and used as a teaching tool.

Expected impact: The case study reports and O5 manual should be of interest to other groups of educators dealing with similar study subjects, and could encourage them to implement similar activities in the future, and guide them through such implementation.
